Commercial Lawyer

Rostron Carlyle Lawyers are seeking a commercially minded Senior Business and Commercial Solicitor with strong experience in business and commercial law in our established Brisbane CBD practice.

You will work closely with private and corporate business owners, developers and commercial landlords across Queensland. You will be expected to be able to work autonomously to lead matters but have partner and professional support to scale.

This role will be to lead strategic growth in this area of legal services and the successful applicant will be expected to play a key role in development of the firm’s expansion and in addition to strong professional skill and experience, have with strong marketing and communication skills.

 

The Role

The role requires you to:

  • Lead business sales and acquisitions including due diligence, contract drafting and negotiations
  • Manage commercial and business transactions including share acquisitions, disposals, put and call options, joint ventures, shareholder and unit holder agreements, general commercial and business agreements
  • Advise on business structuring issues and establish trusts and companies consistent with clients’ strategic goals.
  • Working directly with clients and collaborate with their advisers such as accountants and financing consultants
  • Be involved in some commercial property work, review and negotiate commercial and retail leases, variations and associated agreements
  • Collaborate with the Partners to deliver exceptional outcomes
  • Maintain strong client and referral relationships through clear commercial communication
  • Represent the firm professionally at networking and industry events

 

The Successful Applicant

You bring:

  • A minimum of 5+ years PAE in commercial and business transactional law
  • High level professional experience in transactional matters including business sales, business advisory and structuring of transactions
  • Strong drafting, negotiation and advisory skills
  • Ability to manage matters autonomously with commercial judgement
  • A team mindset and commitment to continuous improvement and growth
  • A current Australian practising certificate
  • Confidence in building client and referrer trust through clarity of advice, excellent standards of work, and timely delivery
  • Strong generalists with relevant commercial and business experience are encouraged to apply
